Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician. Born on October 20, 1964, she was the 49th Vice President of the United States. She is also the first vice president to be female and the highest-ranking female official in U.S. History, as well the first African American and second Asian American vice president. As a member of the Democratic Party, she was the attorney general for California in 2011-2017 and a United States senator representing California from 2017 to 2021. Harris was born and was raised in Oakland, California. After establishing her career as an Alameda County District Attorney Harris was hired to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Later she became the City Attorney of San Francisco. The office was named San Francisco district attorney in 2003. In 2010 she was appointed Attorney General of California and was re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 to 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Martinez in 2016's Senate election to become the 2nd African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. Harris was a senator who fought for health care and federal de-scheduling of cannabis. A pathway towards citizenship for migrants who aren't legal. The DREAM Act bans assault weapons and progressive tax reform. She is well-known for her direct questions to Trump government officials during Senate hearings.
